Review: Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation

Why is it so hard to find a good foundation? I only ask 3 things of my foundation: don’t make me orange, be long lasting, and don’t make my face look like I could fry an egg on it. I bought and returned about 7 foundations from September to December because none of them could live up to my expectations. The only foundations that I knew I could count on were my trusty Fenty foundation and the ever popular Estee Lauder Double Wear. I wanted to try more formulas though, so I figured that I could start this foundation test series.

There were two new foundations coming out that I wanted to try first: the Nars Natural Radiant Longer Foundation and the Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless foundation. I went to the mall with Christmas money in hand ready to buy whichever one I came across first! Bobbi Brown won because I had to walk by their kiosk in Belk to get to the rest of the mall.

I walked up to one of the makeup artists and asked her to help color match me. She ended up matching me to #7 Almond which is a medium brown with yellow undertones. I was honestly a little afraid to have her help me because everyone that tries to color match me always tries to put me in shades with red undertones, but Almond was the perfect shade!

This foundation claims to be a full coverage waterproof, sweat and humidity resistant, and last 16 hours. It’s paraben-free; sulfate-free; phthalate-free; sulfite-free (I don’t know what any of those are but I probably don’t want them on my face), vegan friendly and gluten-free, and non-acnegenic (meaning it shouldn’t clog your pores or break you out). And it has SPF 15! Score!

I wore this foundation every day for 7 days and I fell in love.

I used 3 different primers during the test: Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base (this one is kind of expensive, but I lucked out and found the travel version for $10 at The Cosmetic Company store, which is a store you can find at most outlets that sells all Estee Lauder owned brands at a discount!), Touch in sol no poreblem, and the benefit porefessional. I think a foundation should preform well over any primer, not just one from its own brand. This foundation worked beautifully over all three!

I have dry combination skin, but I love a nice matte finish. This formula is the perfect amount of matte for me! When it comes to oil control, it definitely delivers on its promise. With other foundations my whole t zone usually gets oily about 3 hours after initial application, but with this it takes about 6 hours for my nose to get a little shiny. The rest of my t zone is still as matte as when I first applied it!

So to make a kinda long review short: it doesn’t make me orange, it definitely lasts all day, and Waffle House won’t be hiring me as their new griddle anytime soon. This foundation is fire emoji fire emoji fire emoji praise hands!

If you’re in the market for a new foundation I definitely recommend stopping by your closest Bobbi Brown retailer to give it a try!
